Adding value at all stages

OPERATIONALISATION OF

AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAINS

The project contemplates the development of the value chain in the following phases:

Agricultural Production

Post-Production

Processing

Commercialisation

The actions to be taken in this structure should focus on:

• Implementation of projects by the private sector in partnership with the state;

• Development of a competitive productive system for Nigerian agriculture and livestock in order to meet the food needs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

• Assembly of agricultural machinery and equipment in a CKD system that will generate jobs and create the basis for the development of a local industry.

• Increase the competitiveness of food production by absorbing modern production techniques and cutting-edge technology.

• Empower small farmers through modern agricultural production techniques and by providing agricultural mechanisation services and quality inputs.

• Provide maintenance, repair and training services for agricultural machinery and equipment.

• Ensure access to the market for small farmers through the system of fair cultivation contracts for the purchase of agricultural products.

• Government support for the private sector to receive competitive financing for the acquisition of machinery, equipment, services and supplies, as well as working capital for the first two years of operation.

• The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will provide qualified technical labour, represented by young graduates from Npower Agro, for integration in the Private Service Centres.

Small Producer

Empowering Nigeria to produce agricultural machinery and equipment is one of the pillars of the Green Imperative Project, to enable the development of a strong national industry adapted to regional climate and soil needs.

Machinery and equipment are key success factors for the development of agriculture in any country. Developing a local industry for the production of specific machinery and equipment is a critical point for agriculture in general, bringing independence to the country to provide a set of goods and services much more adapted to local conditions and also developing qualified local labour for maintenance and technical assistance.

The Nigerian market offers a critical mass of volume to justify investments for the creation of an agro-industrial park based on a CKD concept for assembling machine and equipment parts.

Assembly plants for agricultural machines and implements such as follows:

Maintenance

Machinery and equipment.

Local Production

Job creation.
Professional qualification.

Spare Parts

National availability.

R&D incentive

Development of new machines and equipment more adapted to local conditions.
