The Green Imperative Project provides a technological leap in Nigerian agriculture:
• Permanent training program to adopt the best agricultural practices for small farmers;
• Guarantee of market access for products produced by small producers through fair purchase agreements with Service Centres;
• With the use of modern technology and its production factors, to be provided by the Service Centres, agricultural production will be much more efficient, resulting in greater productivity and quality of agricultural products;
• Implement continuous veterinary assistance, through call centres, to promote animal health and the stability of the production system for meat, milk and its derivatives;
• Offer farmers an annual plan for agricultural production according to market demands, so that they can earn income throughout the year;
• Promote agricultural production at competitive costs with increased productivity and quality through continuous technical training;
• Create a maintenance system for the distribution network of machinery and equipment and spare parts to optimise their use and reduce downtime and acquisition costs;
• Technical personnel receiving an extensive training program to work at automakers and service centres across the country;
• Over time, CKD factories will be able to supply Service Centres, medium and large farmers and processing factories in Nigeria, and in other countries in the region, with locally produced equipment and implements;
• Reduction in global imports of food and agricultural products of plant and animal origin, with the promotion of local production;
• Generate employment and income through the creation of employment opportunities throughout the agricultural value chain (production, processing, marketing and logistics);
• Encourage the private sector to meet the demands of the Nigerian market through the diffusion of advanced production techniques by modern machinery and equipment.
The Green Imperative Project (GIP) is the largest agricultural project in Africa and prioritises the development of sustainable, low-carbon agriculture. Green Imperative aims to develop structural conditions to boost food production in Nigeria in an efficient and competitive manner.
The Green Imperative Project’s main line of work is the development of food production value chains, through the development of Service Centres for agricultural and livestock production, which will support small farmers in agricultural mechanisation, technical assistance and access to the market.
